Hiking the State Parks of Indiana

Welcome to my blog, Hiking the State Parks of Indiana. When I am not serving as the pastor of Sellersburg United Methodist Church and spending time with my family I enjoy getting out in nature and hiking. I was born in Franklin IN in the 1960s. I grew up visiting many of the state parks of IN. Some of my earliest memories are camping and hiking there. In 1993, I moved from Indiana to California. Three decades later, I am back living in Indiana. In those 30 years, I spent days, and sometimes weeks hiking and backpacking across the Sierra Nevada and other California mountain ranges. Coming home again to Indiana, I am really looking forward to visiting the State Parks of my childhood.

My hope in creating this blog is to challenge myself to visit all of the Indiana State Park lands. According to their website, The Indiana State Parks system manages 24 state parks and seven small satellite locations, eight reservoir properties, two state forest recreation areas, and two off-road riding areas. I have decided to see just how many of them I can actually visit. I am starting with the ones near where I live in Sellersburg IN. Each visit I’ll add another post to this blog and share photos of my experience.

Enjoy the photos and perhaps learn about all of the wonderful State Parks of Indiana.
